Employers are lagging behind government policy on auto-enrolment into workplace pensions and it will be difficult to enforce their compliance, experts warn.
By 2017, all employers must auto-enrol their staff with at least three months' service and who pay income tax into a workplace pension scheme. If no pension scheme is provided, employees can join NEST. However, almost 70% of employers are yet to begin their preparations for auto-enrolment, which will be rolled out next year, according to research from Punter Southall.
