Public sector unions are gearing up for a national strike on 30 June to protest against pension changes proposed by Lord Hutton.
About a quarter of a million Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union members have voted in a ballot to walk out in protest over the reforms, with the results expected later today. The PCS strike would coincide with a strike by the National Union of Teachers (NUT) and Associations of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) on the same day. The NUT announced the result of a ballot of 218,370 of its members on strike plans yesterday, with 92% voting to strike.
