The ETF market in the US is still gathering new customers as both retail and institutional investors become increasingly aware of the benefits they offer.
"While ETFs have been in the market for some time there are many investors who are just now starting to understanding the benefits of ETFs and how to use them in a portfolio strategy," says Richard Genoni, principal, head of ETF product development at Vanguard in Philadelphia. "Not only at the retail level but all the way up through the institutional level, we are still seeing institutional clients who are buying their first ETF." There are several reasons behind this, he says: "there is still a newness factor, they are intrigued by ETFs, and they certainly see them in the media". ...
