Active ETFs have been slow to catch on in Europe but they are being used by investors looking for an alternative to equities, with the usual benefits of an ETF.
Source is one of the few European providers currently offering active ETFs; it partnered with Pimco earlier this year to offer actively managed fixed income ETFs. The latest of the joint launches is the Pimco Sterling Short Maturity Source ETF (or Sterling Mint), which having listed in London just seven weeks ago, has gained around £40 million (€45.7 million) in assets. The fund is actively managed by Pimco and invests primarily in short-term investment grade debt, denominated in sterling.
