Conservative MPs have threatened to strike down the Budget if the government does not reconsider child benefit reform.
During the Spending Review in 2010, the government pledged to remove child benefit from any household in which one parent pays 40% tax from 2013. The plans have been criticised because households with one income of around £40,000 would lose the benefit, whilst another household with a combined income of £80,000 could still keep it.
