Less than half the UK population are saving enough to fund their retirement and UK pension saving overall has dropped to record low levels, a report has found.
The eighth annual Scottish Widows Pension Report showed only 46% of people are saving sufficiently for old age. This figure was down five percentage points on last year's results and down eight percentage points since 2009. The pension provider said the drop in saving for retirement is widespread across age groups and income levels, according to the poll of 5,200 adults. It also found 22% - or one-in-five people - are saving nothing for old age. Scottish Widows said this figure had increased year-on-year.
