CII: Providers must 'step up to the mark' to boost industry professionalism

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has urged providers to 'step up to the mark' and buy into the increased professionalism of the financial services industry heralded by the Retail Distribution Review (RDR).

CII director Steve Jenkins said the industry is becoming increasingly 'professionalised' due to RDR changes but for consumers to have "real faith in the industry" providers must also buy into an ethos of transparency and professionalism. He said: "They must avoid being opportunistic and ensure they develop their products with the consumers in mind. It's fair to say that in the past many products have often been complicated and opaque but this needs to change.
