The government must do more to promote the benefits of the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) to consumers to help advisers stay in business, Tenet Group has said.
Speaking at Aviva's roundtable debate Life After RDR: A New World?, Keith Richards, group distribution and development director at Tenet, said between 10% and 15% of advisers had already gone out of business. Richards said he believed more advisers could collapse after 31 December if the government does not work more effectively with industry to promote the benefits of RDR. He said the "communication deficiency" affects both existing and potential clients.
