Moving to a flat-rate single tier state pension will take the risk out of advising people on whether it pays to save for retirement, MPs heard.
The coalition's state pension reforms mean from April 2017 everyone who achieves a 35 year National Insurance record will receive £144 per week in retirement. One of the main aims of the reforms is to make it fairer and simpler for women to get a full state pension. A credit system for caring will apply, meaning looking after children or elderly people will not result in NI record gaps.
