'Deeply flawed' Labour Pensions Bill amendment defeated

Pensions minister Steve Webb has led a House of Commons defeat of a "deeply flawed" opposition amendment on charges in the Pensions Bill.

MPs also rejected an amendment from Labour's Baroness Patricia Hollis, who proposed workers with multiple "mini-jobs" could combine their total to earn state pension qualifying years. As the bill was debated following House of Lords amendments, Webb spoke in support of amendment nine, tabled by Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Lords spokesman Lord David Freud, which will require defined contribution (DC) schemes to disclose "some or all" transaction costs.
