FCA chief Wheatley wins 'positive change' award

Martin Wheatley, the chief executive of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), has been recognised for helping "shift the culture of financial regulation" by putting "the interests of consumers first".

Wheatley picked up the Which? Positive Change Award 2014 on Thursday. Which? executive director Richard Lloyd said Wheatley had picked up the baton at the helm of the financial regulator at a time when public trust, in banking in particular, had been severely damaged. "Under Martin's leadership, the FCA has shown a willingness to understand the behaviour of real consumers, to tackle the minority of people working in financial services who have abused the trust that consumers place in them, and to prioritise improvements in key markets such as consumer credit, insurance and savings," h...
