Jet setting FCA: Foreign travel tops regulator's board expense claims

The Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) directors racked up expense claims between April last year and this March of £61,887, mainly to cover the cost of foreign travel for the chairman, chief executive and supervision director.

FCA chairman John Griffith Jones claimed the most in expenses from April 2013 to March this year, totalling £27,076.29. His heaviest claim period was between October and December last year, when Griffith Jones claimed £17,538.73, largely made up of £15,151.34 for foreign travel. Chief executive Martin Wheatley ranks next, claiming £22,478.91 during the year. Most of it was made between January and March this year in relation to foreign travel, for which during that time Wheatley claimed £9,684.07.
