Govt launches state pension change communication blitz

People within ten years of their state retirement age will be targeted in a new communication campaign from the Department for Work and Pensions launched to better explain state pension changes.

Pensions minister Ros Altmann launched the new communication drive ahead of massive changes to the state pension in April 2016. The new state pension will be a flat-rate weekly payment based on the number and type of National Insurance contributions made. Altmann said: "Huge efforts have been put into reforming the mind-blowingly complicated state pension system that exists today into something that, over time, will be clearer and fairer for everybody.
