Barclays set to hire former JPM banker Staley as CEO

Barclays is set to appoint former J.P. Morgan investment banker Jes Staley as its new chief executive, according to reports.

The appointment is expected to be announced in the next few weeks and subject to regulator approval, reported the FT. Staley is currently working at US hedge fund Blue Mountain Capital, which he started in 2013, after spending more than three decades at J. P. Morgan. He is set to fill the role left by Antony Jenkins who was sacked by the bank's board earlier in the summer as the directors called for a change in leadership with a "new set of skills".
