Zurich appoints interim UK Life CEO after Shaughnessy promotion

Insurer Zurich has appointed Jim Sykes as interim head of its UK Life business after Gary Shaughnessy was moved to head the global division.

The company said the process to select a permanent chief executive was underway. It announced Shaughnessy would succeed Kristof Terryn as Global Life chief in January while Terryn will concentrate on the general insurance business. Sykes will take the position in January. He has been a member of the Zurich UK Life executive team since September 2012, currently as managing director of UK Life's In Force business and responsible for the company's UK Life operations.
