Former pensions minister Ros Altmann described the lifetime ISA (LISA) as the "death-knell" for pensions, saying she feared people may misunderstand the benefits of a traditional retirement fund.

Speaking to Professional Adviser after featuring on a LISA roundtable edition of Adviser Champions, the pensions expert (pictured) voiced concern about the savings product and criticised the Treasury for creating it. "My fear is that this is the death-knell for pensions if it really does take off and if people misunderstand the benefits of pensions and assume this is somehow a better product," said Altmann.
