Warning as scammers cold-call posing as TPR

TPR: "It is an attempt to steal your savings - just hang up."

Scammers may be trying to steal savings from workers by falsely claiming to be calling from The Pensions Regulator (TPR), according to a warning from the watchdog.

TPR received reports of pension holders being cold-called by individuals posing as staff offering workers a "free pension review" - a common warning sign of a scam, according to TPR. TPR said it never cold-calls individuals about their pensions, and has passed on the cases to the Information Commissioner's Office for investigation, and will continue to do so with any further reports it receives.
