Some 36% of employees do not know that they have been automatically enrolled into a workplace pension, data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has revealed.
According to its Wealth and Assets Study published today (1 August), 63% of eligible employees were aware they have been auto-enrolled, while 1% were unsure. Of those who were aware that they had been enrolled, 13% said they had been members of their scheme since auto-enrolment was introduced in 2012. Meanwhile, just over a quarter had joined their scheme in 2016, and 12% joined in 2017. This compares to 21% in 2015, 18% in 2014, 11% in 2013, and 13% in 2012.
