FTSE Russell to include China A-shares in major benchmarks

Index provider predicts passive inflows of $10bn

Index provider FTSE Russell has revealed it will start to include China A-shares in major benchmarks from June 2019.

The stocks will be selected from the FTSE China A Stock Connect All Cap index and included across the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (FTSE GEIS). Furthermore, China A-shares has been promoted to emerging market status reflecting the ongoing progress by the nation towards market reforms and increased access for investors. China A-shares make their debut in MSCI indices The index provider will implement its inclusions over three phases between June 2019 and March 2020.
