CMA to investigate FNZ acquisition of GBST

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is to investigate the completed acquisition of GBST Holdings by FNZ.

On Monday (18 November) the CMA launched an inquiry into the acquisition. The CMA said "[it] is considering… whether it is or may be the case that a relevant merger situation has been created and whether the creation of that situation has resulted or may be expected to result in a substantial lessening of competition in any market or markets in the United Kingdom."   It added it had "reasonable grounds" for suspecting FNZ and GBST had ceased to be distinct entities.  A spokesperson for FNZ said: "FNZ will cooperate fully with the CMA to provide all the relevant information and will op...
