Chancellor Rishi Sunak is likely to extend the UK’s furlough scheme through to the end of March 2021, according to a report from the BBC.
The scheme was originally due to end on 31 October but has already been extended to cover the UK's four-week lockdown. It is unclear whether the new extension will cover the full 80% of wages of up to £2,500 per month. The full details will be revealed to the House of Commons shortly, with Sunak due to issue a statement later this afternoon (5 November). The report said the likely extension followed "several days of wrangling" over the scope and length of the scheme.
