GPs face tight annual allowance compensation deadline - Quilter

GPs who want to file for 2019/20 annual allowance compensation, as promised by NHS England and NHS Improvement, have until Friday (11 February) to get their paperwork in order or be forced to pay the tax bill out of their own funds, Quilter has warned.

The provider said a freedom of information request revealed more than 72% of NHS pension scheme members who have exceeded the standard annual allowance in 2019/20 have opted for their scheme to pay their annual allowance tax bill.  However, it added 28% of NHS staff who have breached the standard allowance have not told their scheme to pay which is a necessary step in the compensation process. They will need to pay it themselves, the firm said.  It added there was also an unknown number of GPs who have not completed "burdensome administration" that will be subject to annual allowance ...
