Studies suggest that more than 50% of UK residents lack a clear understanding of the concept of ESG investment, delegates at Boring Money’s Retail Investor Event 2022 heard.
Speaking at the event on 28 September, Financial Conduct Authority senior associate ESG policy and advisory Gwil Mason said there was still a lot more to be done before ESG investing became widely accepted in the UK investment arena. Protecting consumers in a "difficult to navigate sustainable investment market" and being clear with them are key goals for the regulator, he said. "People need more guidance," Mason told delegates.
