Advisers are more confident of their vulnerable customer strategy, with 86% of advisers confident their firms have a strategy in place to identify vulnerable customers, up from 72% in March 2022, according to Embark Group.
The firm's confidence barometer, published on Monday (31 October), found that despite this increase in confidence, most advisers still underestimate the true number of vulnerable customers. Most advisers estimate between 6% and 20% of their customers as vulnerable, with the average being 11.5%, which is consistent across age groups, geographies, and assets, according to Embark. However, 19% of surveyed advised clients identified themselves as vulnerable, up from 12% in the previous survey.
