The income of single female pensioners under 75 has overtaken that of men for the first time ever, Broadstone has found.
Its analysis of data from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) showed that in 2021/22, the annual income of women under 75 after housing costs was £12,168 - £52 higher than men in that age group. This was a reversal of the previous year's data, when men under 75 received an average annual income £988 higher than women. However, the data showed that in 2021/22, income for single female pensioners over 75 was on average £2,236, which is less than men in that cohort.
