Advisers who are failing to discuss ESG investing with clients are putting their business at risk, experts said during a panel discussion at the Sustainable Investment Festival 2023.
SRI Services founding director Julia Dreblow said there was a "real risk" to advisers who were not engaging on sustainability. "If you are not aware of this sort of stuff then that is a risk to your business," she said. Dreblow said ESG and impact investing clearly "dovetailed" into the upcoming Consumer Duty rules, which come into force on 31 July. She added incorporating ESG discussions into the client relationship was a real opportunity: "It is about getting closer to your clients and understanding them and reflecting that in your strategy."
