More than a quarter of HNWs lack measures to address IHT

Despite IHT challenges, confidence in the economy is returning

More than a quarter (28%) of high-net-worth (HNW) individuals do not have measures in place to address inheritance tax (IHT) or increase the tax-free assets that they aim to pass on, according to the Saltus Wealth Index report.

Of these respondents, 8% said they do not have any plans in place, although they do plan to at some point. Additionally, 4% have not thought about it and 2% do not plan on taking any measures at all to mitigate the impact of inheritance tax. Of those HNW individuals who currently have measures in place to pass on their wealth (72%), 64% have either already have passed it on (28%) or plan to pass it on, (36%) to friends and family as gifts, and 65% either already have bought (24%) or plan to buy (41%) a funeral plan.
