Single women in the UK faced a 40% gender disparity in personal pension income compared to their male counterparts over the past year, according to Bowmore Financial Planning.
The firm's research findings revealed that while single male pensioners received an average annual income of £780 from their personal pensions, single women had an average income of just £312. The study was conducted among single male and female pensioners for the year end to 31 March 2022. Whilst Bowmore said that that both men and women suffer from pension poverty in their old age, it noted women generally have far lower personal pensions savings.
