Advisers not receiving financial coaching training is 'outrageous'

‘Financial coaching skills are crucial for advisers’

It is “outrageous” that advisers do not receive training for financial coaching as the skillset is essential for good client outcomes, according to Institute for Financial Wellbeing founder Chris Budd.

Speaking to delegates at the Personal Finance Society's Duty Bound 2023 conference today (2 November), Budd said financial coaching skills are "crucial" for advisers. Budd urged advisers to invest in financial coaching training to build their skill set. He also urged advisers to record their meetings and listen back to them to find the "wow moment" for clients. Budd also suggested that advisers should "listen more" to their clients to help improve their financial wellbeing.
