One in three wealth managers have reduced their exposure to the US, marking the biggest negative sentiment in 15 years, according to the latest investment manager sentiment survey of chief investment officers (CIO) from Asset Risk Consultants (ARC).
The investment consultancy said the geopolitical and macroeconomic backdrop shaped by the early months of Trump's return led many firms to reassess exposure to US assets. The survey looked at the last 12 months and found a "cautions tone" when it came to investing in US assets. Sentiment was 4% net negative to US assets compared to 36% net positive a year ago. While the net sentiment towards equities overall remained positive at 29% this has also softened from 40% in Q1 last year.
