FOS expecting light British Steel workload for 2024/25

Ombudsman expects to receive 12,800 investment and pensions complaints

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has predicted that it will receive ‘very few’ complaints about the British Steel Pension Scheme (BSPS) in the next financial year.

Within its estimated complaints figures for 2024/25 - published today (4 April) - the ombudsman expects to receive 12,800 investment and pensions complaints. Out of those, it stated that "very few" will likely be about the former BSPS. FOS chief executive and chief ombudsman Abby Thomas said with uncertainty around casework levels in the upcoming year, the ombudsman is "building a service which is flexible and agile, allowing us to respond to increased demand across any area of our business".
