Advice providers have managed to get their services back online with minimal longer-term business impacts after global IT outages left companies reeling on Friday.
Around 8.5 million Microsoft Windows devices were affected by a defective code update from cybersecurity service Crowdstrike, the latter has confirmed. The result was chaos, with flights cancelled and hospitals reporting critical incidents as technology infrastructure went down. Abrdn, Quilter, Royal London, Scottish Widows and Vanguard were among a tranche of businesses that faced service hits.
