Chancellor Rachel Reeves has revealed a proposal to amend plans to abolish non-dom status to allow a more generous phase out of tax benefits.
An amendment to make the temporary repatriation facility "more generous" is expected to be included in upcoming legislation, Reeves told the Wall Street Journal during a Davos interview. Reeves said that the government has been "listening to the concerns that have been raised by the non-dom community." In its election manifesto, Labour said it would remove the non-dom status, which allows people to live in the UK without paying UK tax on money made abroad because their home is outside of the country, unless they pay it into a UK bank account.
