When I wrote a story on the Lib Dem manifesto pledges on pensions, I hardly thought it would matter. They wouldn't win anyway.
However, following the leaders' debate last Thursday, a debate widely considered to have been won by Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, my opinion began to change. The so-called ‘Clegg surge' has already seen polls begin turning in favour of the Lib Dems. The Guardian/ICM poll, published on Monday, had the Conservatives on 33%, the Lib Dems on 30% and Labour on 28%.
