Today is national Older People's Day, but some are less than enamored with the DWP's gesture towards "the important contribution older people make to society".
The day coincides with the UN International Day of Older Persons, and events take place across the country such as exercise classes, dances, craft fairs, skills workshops and sporting competitions. "Older people are at the forefront of British society today; we must harness the skills and experience of our older generations," urges pensions minister Steve Webb earnestly.
