The impact of the recent campaign by The Spectator to increase subscriptions was tangible. With slogans such as “The poorer the diet, the bigger the flat screen”, ad agency Ogilvy and Mather can be justifiably pleased with reaction to their “Don’t Think Alike” campaign, promoting the often unconventional views of this well-established, entertaining and thought provoking periodical. However, the ad that caught my eye was: “People from bad areas steal your phone. People from good areas steal your pension.” I assume Ogilvy and Mather were unaware of the degree of irony in this statement. ...
