How to keep the wheels turning on retirement

I was out on my road bike a few weeks ago, enjoying the ride even though it was a cold, dull, windy, and damp day. Feeling good, I decided to push on a bit further than normal and took a road home that I had never previously ridden. A few hundred metres up this lonely, desolate road, with the wind now driving rain across the open fields, I discovered I had a puncture.
