The government is considering raising National Insurance (NI) contributions for millions of workers by 1% or more, according to reports in national papers this morning (3 September). According to the reports, the hike is intended to fund adult social care and help support the NHS, which has suffered funding gaps across the board for years. The government's plan would see an increase in NI social security contribution rates by between 1% and 2%, which will provide a cap, possibly of £65,000, on the amount an individual would be required to spend on the costs of social care during their...
