30% of wealthiest retirees are not taking advice

The generation of over 40s workers are the wealthiest potential retirees in real terms than previous generations, yet 30% have never seen a financial adviser, claims Halifax Financial Services.

The research reveals 41% of 42-60 year olds consider themselves to be wealthy, which includes owning their own home, having enough money in terms of investments and pension savings to live independently and comfortably and to be able to travel and do things they want to do in retirement. From the survey of 1,408 adults, carried out by ICM on behalf of Halifax, 67% of respondents believe this wealth is because of hard work throughout their lives, while just 9% attribute it to good investments.
