The number of women turning their back on pensions has increased over the last year with half a million more planning to rely on their husband's pension pot in retirement, claims Investec Private Bank.
Findings from the survey of 562 women, carried out by TNS on behalf of Investec, reveals around 60% of women do not have a personal pension fund, with 19% claiming a pension simply is not a priority, up from 17% the previous year. In addition it says 1.6 million women who do not have a pension plan are planning to rely on their husband’s savings or pensions to provide them with an income in retirement, which Investec says is an increase of half a million over the last 14 months.
