The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee has kept the UK base interest rate at 4.75%, as predicted by the City.
Further details of the committee's reasons for maintaining the repo rate at 4.75% will be revealed on December 22nd. The next MPC interest rate meeting - announcing whether rates will be maintained, cut or increased - will be held on Thursday 13th January 2005. The MPC last increased the UK base lending rate by 25 basis points to 4.75% on August 5th 2004. IFAonline
