The Conservative Party has called on the government to press ahead with the state pension reforms, including restoration of the link to earnings.
Following suggestions the government might delay the first Pensions Reform Bill until the spring because of the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR), the Opposition says there should be no reason for a delay. Phillip Hammond, shadow work and pensions secretary, says there can be no reason to delay the proposed pensions bill to deal with changes to the state system, now a broad consensus has been achieved.
