The government has announced Paul Thornton, managing director of Gazelle Corporate Finance, will lead its external review of organisations involved in the regulation and protection of workplace pensions.
The institutional review – announced in the May white paper – will look at how the responsibilities of pensions institutions, such as The Pensions Regulator, Pension Protection Fund and the Financial Services Authority, are arranged to ensure they support existing government policy, fit reform proposals and support developments in the pensions market. Thornton, a previous president of the Institute of Actuaries, will present the findings and recommendations of the review in Spring 2007.
