Adviser guilty of £450k swindle

A Kent-based financial adviser has pleaded guilty to conning customers out of almost £450,000.

Gordon Benville, of Deal in Kent, admitted responsibility for 12 cases of fraud while trading under the name Kingsfield Commercial Funding. Police arrested Benville in February 2007 after two customers became concerned about their financial status after receiving advice from him. The FSA immediately suspended Benville and his assets were frozen by Kent Police after an investigation into his bank accounts. All twelve offences related to obtaining money transfers by deception, totalling £440,637.64, and two of Benville’s victims were pensioners. He is due to be sentenced at a later date. ...
