Half of employers considering DC changes

A total of 45% of employers with defined contribution (DC) pension schemes could change their arrangements, according to a survey by Watson Wyatt.

The management consultancy says the research reflects growing concern among employers that take up rates in DC schemes remain considerably lower than DB schemes. It says employers must now start to improve DC features in order to attract more members. The survey shows about one in five employers has considered raising contribution levels paid to the scheme and just over a fifth has considered improving members' investment choices.
