Aifa website gives clarity to contracting out

The Association of Independent Financial Advisers has launched a "Contracting Out" website, which aims to offer consumers a clear route to advice on the issue.

The website lists by region advisers who are willing to discuss the pros and cons of contracting out and give advice to consumers who have no current advisers, such as clients of direct sales forces of life companies and banks and departed IFA firms. The site also gives basic information about the services each IFA firm offers, including a guide to fees. Fay Goddard, deputy director of the Aifa, says: “For the second year running Aifa and ABI have produced a joint factsheet on contracting out, which is being mailed out to people who are contracted out through their personal pension.
