Aegon Scottish Equitable is to expand its property portfolio by adding buy-to-let hotel rooms to its list of investments into self-invested personal pensions.
In the first step of a planned expansion of its sipp property portfolio, which will be phased in during the first quarter of the year, Aegon Scottish Equitable says from today it will allow investments in GuestInvest, the buy-to-let hotel company, to be included in both group and individual sipps. It says as the first major provider to offer direct hotel room purchase through a pension, the move will give investors exposure to the commercial property market with “greater liquidity and less hassle than is traditionally associated with such purchases”.
