A majority of UK pension schemes have fewer than 11 members despite recent efforts to incentivise long-term savings, says Steve Bee after reading Opra's latest figures.
Furthermore, Scottish Life's head of pensions strategy reveals the number of 'live' occupational pension schemes in Britain have dropped with about 6% over the past year. Out of the 94,071 'live' schemes existing today, 75,864 have less than 11 members, Bee says. "So a typical pension scheme in the UK today is in the business of providing pensions for just a handful of people," he points out.
