'Virtually all' IFAs have recommended SIPPs

Self invested personal pensions (SIPPs) have been recommended by 82% of generalist advisers, research from Defaqto shows.

Though annuities remain the most popular choice of pension product in the UK, IFAs are increasingly recommending SIPPs to clients. "With IFAs often specialising in specific areas, our latest research found that SIPPs have been recommended by virtually all pensions specialists and wealth managers, David Abbis, insight analyst for wealth management at Defaqto says. He adds: "Advisers offering a broader mix of life, pensions and investment advice were still strong advocates with 82% having recommended SIPPs.
