Advisers say the CF8 exam does not give IFAs a full enough grasp of the long term care market.
The CII exam, which purports to help IFAs "develop an understanding and knowledge of long term care contracts", costs £96.00 to sit, with costs for revision days at £230.00. Care annuity provider Partnership last week urged IFAs to sit the exam to prepare for the increased demand for long term care advice. Partnership's long term care managing director Chris Horlick said only around 7,000 advisers have CF8, meaning people who take advice on long term care are likely to do so from an under-qualified adviser.
